Famous Last Words
Have you ever wondered what your very last words will be?
I suppose it will all depend on how you actually do die, but it is something interesting to think about.
I have often wondered whether or not my Mom said anything at the moment just before she died. Of course, we will never know since she died sometime between our last phone conversation the night of May 3, 2006 when she went to sleep and the very next morning when Boo found her unresponsive in her bed.
I do, however, clearly remember our very last conversation...as if it were yesterday.
I spoke with Mom nearly every day, even if only for a few minutes. Rarely did more than a few days go by before one of us would pick up the phone to connect and fill in the gaps of happenings in our busy lives. We lived a 7 hour driving distance apart, so the telephone was our best bet to catch up. We always made time for each other.
May 3, 2006 marked the final days in the newly exciting TV show called "American Idol". Mom loved music and entertainment and so the singing competition was great fun for her to watch.
May 3, 2006 also marked the date of the last words we spoke to each other.
We assessed the finalists remaining in The American Idol competition; who we would vote for; who we thought should be voted off the show; who had the best performance that night; and we critiqued the contestants fashion choices and whether or not the judges were being reasonable with their critical feedback to our favorite singers.
Mom's famous last words to me were "I'll call you tomorrow".
I replied "I love you Mom". She mimicked "I love you too".
It amazes me to think that I haven't spoken to Mom in over six and a half years.
There was a lot of chatter after the death of Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple. His last words were "Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow".
How would you interpret those last words to mean? Do you think Steve was aware of his imminent death and his very last breath? Did he "see" something crossing over from life to death and speak words of wonderment?
Obviously, we will never know for sure and we are left to ponder, speculate and discuss what the true meaning of Steve's last words.
Here are some other famous last words that you might find of interest.
